Dear Parent/Guardian/Estimado Padre/Tutor:

In the following weeks, your child has the opportunity to participate in a 15-minute survey about the overall culture of the school. The surveys will be completed online and during school time, with no cost to you. It is important that we hear from all members of the school, including our students. The results will help your school community improve in meaningful ways. The areas the survey explores are: Academic Emphasis and Excellence; Communality; Holistic Development; Administration and Governance; and Organizational Identity. Students will be asked to complete a number of items that help us to understand each of these categories, including an optional question about their religious affiliation.

The survey was designed by educational researchers at the Johns Hopkins University Institute for Education Policy.

All responses are strictly confidential and will only be analyzed by researchers at JHU. School personnel will not have access to individual responses. No names, birthdates, addresses, or IP addresses, will be attached to any responses. The primary purpose of the survey is to help your schools celebrate and improve. The secondary purpose is to provide long-term analysis to the field about trends in school culture, using the (de-identified) data for secondary research.

If you want to see the questions beforehand, please ask your principal/head of school or any member of the Johns Hopkins team. Their contact information is below. 

Participation for your child is completely voluntary. If you DO want your child to participate, you don’t need to do anything. If you do NOT want your child to participate, please advise your child to answer “NO” to the first question on the survey. 

En las siguientes semanas, su hijo tiene la oportunidad de participar en una encuesta de 15 minutos sobre la cultura general de la escuela. Service for Ms. Doris Agostini - No School on Monday

Dear Parents/ Queridos Padres,

It is with the greatest of sadness that we share the news that our beloved Ms. Doris Agostini passed away on Saturday, December 3rd. Doris worked at St. Joseph for over 20 years and touched the lives of many.

We will be celebrating Ms. Doris’ life at a funeral mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Monday, December 12, at 10:00am.  Because the faculty, staff, and St. Joseph families would like to attend, we are expecting a large turnout for the mass. In order to accommodate, we will need to close school on December 12, 2022. We will make up the date on March 20, 2023. 

You are all invited to come to the funeral mass. Please share this news with anyone that would like to come.

Please pray for Ms. Doris and her family, she was a very special woman of faith. God rest her soul.

Con la mayor de las tristezas que compartimos la noticia que nuestra querida Sra. Doris Agostini falleció el sábado 3 de diciembre. Doris trabajó en St. Joseph durante más de 20 años y tocó la vida de muchos.

Celebraremos la vida de la Sra. Doris en una misa fúnebre en la Iglesia Católica St. Joseph el lunes 12 de diciembre a las 10:00 am. Debido a que a la facultad, el personal y las familias de St. Joseph les gustaría asistir, esperamos una gran asistencia a la misa. Para acomodar, tendremos que cerrar la escuela el 12 de diciembre de 2022. Recuperaremos la fecha el 20 de marzo de 2023.

Están todos invitados a venir a la misa del funeral. Por favor, comparte esta noticia con quien quiera venir.

Alumni Mass 12/4

Good afternoon parents/Buenas tardes padres,

This is a reminder that there is an Alumni Mass for of all St. Joseph alumni on Sunday, December 4 at 9:00am in the church.  Students that attend that mass, including the choir, in their school uniform will receive a free dress pass.  Choir members should be in church by 8:30am. Choir members, please confirm with Mr. Alex that you will be attending on Sunday.

Please spread the word of the Alumni Mass to any interested alumni you know.

Esto es un recordatorio que hay una misa para todos los ex alumnos de San José el domingo 4 de diciembre a las 9:00 am en la iglesia. Los estudiantes que asisten a esa misa, incluido el coro, en su uniforme escolar recibirán un pase de “free dress”. Los miembros del coro necesitan estar en la iglesia a las 8:30am. Miembros del coro, confirmen con el Sr. Alex que asistirán el domingo.

Our Blue Mass to honor police, firefighters, veterans, and other first responders is on Thursday, December 1 at 8:30am. 

All first responders are invited to attend. There will be coffee and donuts following Mass in the Cafeteria. 

Nuestra Misa Azul en honor a la policía, los bomberos, los veteranos y otros socorristas es el jueves 1 de diciembre a las 8:30am.

Todos los socorristas están invitados a asistir. Habrá café y donas después de la Misa en la Cafetería.

No Thanksgiving Feast Nov 18

Dear Parents/Queridos Padres,

There will be NO Thanksgiving Feast on Friday, November 18.

Tomorrow, November 17, we are offering a Thanksgiving lunch – turkey and gravy, mashed potatoes, corn, and a sweet roll – to the students at their regular lunchtime for free.

If your child does not want the lunch, they may pack their own lunch from home.

NO habrá Fiesta de Acción de Gracias el viernes 18 de noviembre.

Mañana, 17 de noviembre, ofreceremos un almuerzo de Acción de Gracias: pavo y salsa, puré de papas, maíz y un panecillo dulce, a los estudiantes en su hora habitual de almuerzo de forma gratuita. 

Si su hijo no quiere el almuerzo, puede empacarle su propio almuerzo de la casa.

Christmas Program 2022

Dear Parents/ Estimados padres,

It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the year! We are working on our Christmas show, "Christmas Around the World," which we will present on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at 6:30pm in the Church.

Here is a list of what the students need as far as costuming:

• Kindergarteners need to wear shorts, t-shirts and white socks. We will provide their costumes.
• 1^st graders should wear a white t-shirt and khaki shorts (school shorts work), and tennis shoes.
• 2^nd graders should wear a white shirt and black pants, or skirt. School shoes, or black shoes, are fine.
• 3^rd graders  A white t-shirt and khaki shorts, or skirt (school shorts). School shoes will be fine.
• 4^th graders Red, or white shirt with black pants, shorts, or skirt. School shoes are fine.
• 5^th graders: Christmas Attire (Christmas shirt, sweater, dress, etc).

If you do not have a red shirt, or black pants, please do not think you must spend a lot of money on these items. A borrowed shirt or thrift shop shirt will be fine (Salvation Army sells clothes at half price on Wednesdays).  

We are providing most costume accessories.

Yes, they may wear the costume pieces listed above to the school that night.

Students should report to classrooms by 6:00pm to get ready for the show.

If your family is out of town that week, please send an email to the teacher or to me to let us know.

¡Es la época más maravillosa del año! Estamos trabajando en nuestro programa navideño: Christmas Around the World, que presentaremos el martes 20 de diciembre de 2022 a las 6:30 pm en la Iglesia.

Aquí hay una lista de lo que los estudiantes necesitan en cuanto a vestuario:

• Los niños de kindergarten deben usar pantalones cortos, camisetas y calcetines blancos. Proporcionaremos sus disfraces.

Si no tiene una camisa roja o pantalones negros, no crea que debe gastar mucho dinero en estos artículos. Una camisa prestada o una camisa de una tienda de segunda mano estará bien (el Ejército de Salvación vende ropa a mitad de precio los miércoles).

Estamos proporcionando la mayoría de los accesorios de vestuario.

Dear parents/Queridos padres,

Bishop Parkes and the Diocese of St. Petersburg have decided to close St. Joseph on Thursday, November 10.

Teachers will post assignments in their Google Classroom, Remind, or Seesaw accounts. If there are questions, send a message to the teacher via Google Classroom or Remind between 8:00am and 3:00pm for a teacher response. The teacher may not respond outside those hours or if they have lost internet access.

A link for attendance will be texted home in the morning.

There will not be Zoom instruction nor Zoom office hours.

Per the school calendar, there is no school on Friday for Veteran's Day. Since it is a holiday, there will be no assignments posted on Friday.

We pray for a safe day for all of you and your families.

El obispo Parkes y la Diócesis de St. Petersburg han decidido cerrar St. Joseph desde el jueves 10 de noviembre.

Los maestros publicarán trabajo en sus cuentas de Google Classroom, Remind, o Seesaw.
